Where are your worms grown?
Our black soldier fly larvae are grown in the USA and our Globally Sourced are currently grown in China, our mealworms are grown in China. China is the largest supplier of dried mealworms (and many other insects) in the world and they have perfected their processes. There are very limited suppliers in the USA and, unfortunately, none of them produce mealworms in the volume we need. We use multiple quality control steps including annual visits to our suppliers to ensure our products are of the highest quality.
Do chickens like mealworms (and your other bugs)?
We highly recommend mealworms for chickens. Chickens go wild for dried mealworms. Dried mealworms are recommended for people who enjoy watching chickens eat out of their hands, and are much more affordable than live mealworms. Chickens really seem to be able to distinguish mealworms from regular feed, and will come running when they see you coming with a familiar bag of dried mealworms. Chickens also like our Black Solider Fly Larvae.
What other animals eat your products?
Our products can not only be fed to chickens, but turkeys, guineas, ducks, geese, hedgehogs, wild birds and some reptiles eat our bugs.
What is the shelf life of your products and how should I store them?
Our products typically have a 2 year shelf life. It is best to keep them sealed in an air tight container in a cool dry place. We do not recommend keeping them in the refrigerator or freezer. Refrigerating or freeze can cause unwanted moisture to collect inside the bag which can lead to mold or bacteria growth.
